Coastcom Announces New Feature Card for
its AIM - Advanced Intelligent Multiplexer
ALAMEDA, CA , February 1, 2002 - Coastcom, a leading manufacturer
of communications equipment, is excited to announce the development
of a new feature card for its AIM® - Advanced Intelligent Multiplexer.
Coastcom's new Synchronous Data Channel Unit (SDCU) for AIM provides
the serial ports needed to interface directly to servers and other
serial devices. This card completes a low-cost data path between
serial devices encompassing the security and long range transportability
of TDM. It connects a V.35 port to an EIA-530A, even if these
2 devices are 1000 miles apart. The AIM SDCU has four independent
ports which can interface to Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) or
Data Communications Equipment (DCE), providing synchronous data
transmission. Each port has the ability to transmit and receive
at up to 1.544 Mbps maximum (64K x N where N = 1 to 24). Each
port of the bi-directional SDCU can be configured for V.35, RS-422/449,
RS-232, X.21, or EIA-530A interfaces. Each port operates transparently
to the data, permitting operation with any protocol.
AIM provides a highly resilient, cost-effective solution for
today's broadband needs as well as a transition vehicle to tomorrow's
technologies. AIM offers carrier-class access and integrates voice/data
services with up to 60 full and fractional T1s and multiple T3s.
AIM functions ideally as a 0/1/3 multiplexer, allowing complex
voice/data grooming at the DS0 level. The system architecture
will allow connection of up to 1,020 full duplex DS0s in any mix
of DS1s and DS3s. With superior scalability, high port density,
multiple levels of redundacy, and flexible bandwidth allocation,
AIM supports diverse customer traffic while protecting your communications
investment. Click here for a data sheet on the new AIM SDCU Feature
Card (Adobe PDF).
