Coastcom's AIM-Net Advanced Network Management
Software Now Available for D/I Mux III
ALAMEDA, CA, NOV 1, 2000 -- Coastcom, a leading manufacturer of
drop-and-insert, and cross connect telecommunications equipment,
has released its AIM-Net/D® - Advanced Network Management Software
- for use with Coastcom’s D/I Mux platform. AIM-Net/D is a
hardware/software bundle consisting of AIM-Net application software
and an Advanced Multiplexer Controller Unit (AMCU) card.
Coastcom’s
initial network management software, AIM-Net, was specifically
designed for their AIM product. Now with the release of AIM-Net/D,
users will also be able to remotely provision and manage their
D/I Mux networks. Designed as a Windows 95/NT graphical "drag-and-drop"
application, AIM-Net/D allows users to easily change maps or compile
equipment inventories at distant sites. Equipment and circuit
inventories can be exported to any open database connectivity
(ODBC) compliant software. The program’s auto-discovery
feature can determine exact card details within a D/I Mux network,
providing up to the minute information on the number of cards
in a node, and hardware/software versions of each card. All features
can be accessed from one central location with point-and-click
simplicity.
Most networks today are comprised of individual "boxes"
that are separately configured and managed by end users. From
a single location, AIM-Net/D enables users to manage their entire
network from initial network design to actual operation. AIM-Net/D
eliminates errors with intuitive cross checking that ensures node
routing connections are valid and consistent.
- Specifically, AIM-Net allows users to:
- Rearrange network configuration
- Easily assign feature cards to various nodes
- Assign/verify cross connections
- Map the network
- Trace individual circuits through multiple nodes
- Transfer data directly to Coastcom via Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) for customer support
- Export equipment and circuit inventories to ODBC-compliant
databases.
